Dave's Central Ohio Group Rides for October 2009
Saturday, October 10th, 2009 ::
** The Historic Ferry Boat Ride has a toll of $2.00 per bike, please bring the correct change.
** Warm clothing may be required due to cool riding temperatures.

Meeting Place / Time :: Bob Evans in Westerville at at 8:15 for optional breakfast and leave promptly at 9:00.
Length in miles :: 300 miles +/- --------------------------- Communications: The group uses CB Channel 1.
Length in hours :: 10 hours with 4 stops and a stop for lunch.
Special Feature :: Travel past several painted barns and covered bridges and then through the beautiful Wayne National Forest, before boarding a Historic Ferry Boat in Fly, Ohio to cross the Ohio River into West Virginia. After lunch we travel more scenic two-lane before joining I-70 for the trek east toward Columbus.
Route Highlights :: Newark, Zanesville, Cumberland, Caldwell, Summerfield, Woodsfield, Fly, Sistersville, WV, New Martinsville, WV, Barnesville, Cambridge and New Concord.
Rest Stops :: Caldwell and Barnesville for a 15 minute Fuel, Drink, Snack, Smoke and Restroom Break.
Lunch Stop :: The Historic Quinet's Court Restaurant All-You-Can-Eat Buffet at 217 Main St in New Martinsville, West Virginia.

Length in miles :: 90 miles +/- --------------------------- Communications: The group uses CB Channel 1.
Length in hours :: 5.5 hours with 3 stops and a stop for lunch.
Special Feature :: October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and this very worthwhile charity benefit is sponsored by the McKenna Foundation for Breast
Cancer Survivors "Providing Help for Breast Cancer Survivors NOW"
100% of the profits will directly benefit a selected Breast Cancer Survivor in the central Ohio area.
Route Highlights :: Leaving Kickstand Pub follow SR 315 Scenic Byway from Powell Rd north to The Final Score Pub for the first stop.
Then drop southwest to Bellepoint and ride the very scenic old River Road along the Scioto River north to Prospect.
Next, head east to Waldo for Lunch between 1:30 or 2:00 at G & R Tavern famous for their Fried Bologna Sandwiches.
We then head southeast thru the Delaware State Park and thru Ashley, where we follow Old State Rd along Alum Creek.
Crossing the Alum Creek Reservoir at the most scenic spot, we cross I-71 and turn south at Berkshire to Five Points.
Here we veer left and follow alongside Little Walnut Creek on the way into Galena to enjoy a stop at Mudflats Bar & Grill.
Sunbury Rd skirts the east of Hoover Reservoir and Red Bank Rd takes us south and spits us out on SR 161 near Little Turtle.
Now follow scenic Cherry Bottom Rd to Mill St and enter Gahanna, where we end the days ride at The Pub in Gahanna.
The ending point at the Pub in Gahanna is located at 207 W Johnstown Rd in Gahanna (the former Pizza Hut building)
Rest Stops :: There will be 4 (four) Drink, Snack, Smoke and Restroom Breaks.
Lunch Stop :: G & R Tavern in Waldo.

The Hocking Hills Fall Leaves Scenic Ride **
** This ride is not recommended for the novice rider ... as some roads are pretty twisty.
Meeting Place / Time :: Bob Evans at Powell & 23 at 9:15 to 9:30 for optional breakfast and leave promptly at 10:00.
Length in miles :: 165 miles +/- --------------------------- Communications: The group uses CB Channel 1.
Length in hours :: 6 hours with 2 stops and a stop for lunch at Jimbo's in South Bloomingville.
Special Feature :: SR 315 to Frank Rd :-(, then a crisp and sunny morning ride following along SR 104 and Three Locks Road taking the long way around to Jimbo's with lots of twisties and nice scenery along the way. After Jimbo's ? More twisties through the beautiful Hocking Hills area to US 33.
Route Highlights :: Chillicothe, Richmond Dale, South Bloomingville, Hocking Hills, then once we merge onto US 33 you are on your own for the trek home.
Rest Stops :: US 22 / SR 104 in Circleville for a quick break, then along US 33 for a Fuel, Drink, Snack, Smoke and Restroom Break.
Lunch Stop :: Jimbo's Bar & Grile at 23356 State Route 56 in South Bloomingville. (740)332-6550

Kickstand Pub at the corner of Lazelle Road and Sancus Blvd at Polaris in Columbus, Ohio.

that the ride route is long, difficult or very twisty and that the group is not going to creep along)
and also note that some rides will require the use of a safety helmet because of that states law.
** Please be aware that even though this is a group ride .... every rider is 100% responsible for his
or her own safety and the safety of his or her passenger. Please ride safely at all times and be aware
of the safety of other riders near you within the group, and watch out for those idiots on 4 wheels !!!
** Also, please note that Roadhouse 66 LLC will not be responsible for any physical injuries or personal
property damage, as well as any other misfortunes resulting from either the riders participation in the
weekly rides, or due to the riders consumption of alcohol or drugs, either before, during or after the rides.
